Gary JacksonAs the chair of the Delta Eta Boulé Foundation since 2000, it is my pleasure to describe the work of the Foundation. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation organized in 1998. It is the philanthropic arm of the Delta Eta Boulé, the Denver chapter of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. Our primary goals are to support educational opportunities for young African American men and to enrich the African American community. The Foundation also donations to communities in need, such as the victims of Hurricane Katrina, the relief effort in Haiti, and the recent victims of Hurricane Sandy in times of national and international tragedies,.

Since its inception, the Foundation has funded at least three scholarships per year and awarded over $200,000 in educational assistance to more than 50 students.  In interviewing of these exceptional students who received our scholarships, there are common themes:

Many of our scholars

   •    Come from single parent homes
   •    Are the first in their family to attend college
   •    Are seeking psychological support, knowing that members of our fraternity are encouraging them and care about their future
   •    Want to know what it is like to attend college and how the men in our fraternity coped with college life
   •    Have never been away from home or traveled by bus, train, or plane outside of their hometown
   •    A few have been homeless and without any financial support

The Foundation’s scholarship program to address these concerns. We strongly believe that we can make a positive difference in the lives of students as well as advance further educational opportunities for them.

The Foundation has supported various educational institutions and community organizations with donations, gifts and the expertise of Delta Eta Boulé’s members. These institutions and organizations have included the James P. Beckwourth Mountain Club, the Dr. Rachel Noel Distinguished Professorship at Metropolitan State University of Denver, the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, the Jack and Jill Beautillion, the Knight Academy, various Denver public schools, Sims Fayola International Academy, and the Porter-Billups Leadership Academy at Regis University. These examples illustrate the essence of our mission, to give a helping hand to students in need and community organizations that seek to uplift students. An important aspect of our mission is to collaborate with institutions of higher education in Colorado that strive to increase the enrollment of students of color.

We invite you to be a supporter of the Delta Eta Boulé Foundation. Please explore our website to learn about our offerings. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at info@DeltaEtaBoule.org.
